Technically, Yennai Arindhaal is brilliant. Multiple stories, a slow screenplay in the 1st half, a solid villain, a subtle hero, emotionally strong women, emotions and there is everything you can expect from a GVM's movie. However, the execution was perfect, even this time. You can see flavours of Vettaiyadu Velayadu and Kakha Kakha, of course and with a slight Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaaya & Vaaranam Ayiram seasoning. GVM has simply put all his previous stories in a mixer grinder and the result is Yennai Arindhaal, except for the casting.

He gets more scope to showcase his acting abilities and he accepts it with both hands. Ajith looked classy in his typical 'Salt & Pepper' style and it was good to see him in black dyed hair as well. He showed varied emotions and the facial expresions were subtle, giving more importance to dialogues. He was birlliant as a responsible cop, a loving father, a good friend and a mature better half. The story is narrated by this boy and he takes you through his school days, undercover cop days and his love life packed in a neat revenge based drama in a typical GVM's non linear style of storytelling.įirst, Ajith had to be appreciated for shedding his mass star image and totally surrendering to GVM and his story. Yennai Arindhaal is a story of a 13 year old boy and his journey called 'Life'. The film had huge expectations for obvious reasons and if you ask me if it lived up to the hype, I would say yes, with a trademark subtle GVM style smile. Finally, the films gets to hit the theatres after a few delays, thanks to the 'Thursday sentiment' of the producer. Ok, GVM is back with his most favorite genre, a cop based thriller film.
